We are in the midst of knowledge explosion and access to information. This includes looking for answers and becoming more enlightened and empowered as we take control of our health and those of our loved ones. It is timely I believe that the general public must be educated on the specifics of oral health and its relevance to general health and quality of Life.
In the age of preventive medicine and wellness a conversation about the mouth-body connection is relevant. Maintaining healthy gums is true preventive medicine.
The place to start is with a thorough examination and discussion with a periodontist who is specifically trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat periodontal disease.
As a Board Certified Periodontist I am proud to be part of a long-established and highly respected practice on Central Park South in Manhattan. I take pride in having built a foundation of trust by treating patients as unique individuals.
I believe that optimum dental care is defined by health, function and aesthetics and to that end I am dedicated to providing the most state of the art and scientific treatment specific to each patients’ individual needs. More importantly I am interested in how your oral health is relevant to your general health, well-being and quality of life.
Growing up we are shaped by our family experiences. Watching our grandparents, parents, relatives and friends deal with health issues as they age is one example. As it turned out these observations made an impact on my decision to become a medical professional. I could make a difference. I observed the lifestyle of a grandfather who lived to 107 yrs old without any medical issues nor medications. Others, both male and female who were smokers, had premature tooth loss, respiratory issues and strokes while others, who led healthy lives had chronic or degenerative disease. Why? Genetics play a role however there are also many risk factors we can control.
I believe that each patient must become educated, informed partners over any care they may require. It is important to me that each patient understand the benefits of maintaining a healthy mouth apart from just the aesthetics, especially the role of inflammation in the mouth body connection. Know and understand their risk factors.
As such I take pride in the extended time each patient is given for a comprehensive consultation and treatment plan, a unique oral health wellness check. Your dental and medical history and current lifestyle heavily impact how you currently feel.
Through my personal experiences I see the importance of working collaboratively. Unique to my practice is that we recommend and help patients establish a wellness alliance consisting of different medical/dental professionals through which we can work together in open dialogue to help direct personalized patient care. My goal is to ensure long term success of a patients’ specific periodontal treatment while helping contribute to improved general health.
I understand how uneasy some people may feel about their dental visits and wondering why am I at the periodontist? Our niche is ensuring each patient is treated in a friendly and professional manner in our comfortable, soothing environment overlooking Central Park. We are there to provide you with genuine support in meeting your needs and follow up care.
My mission is oral health awareness beyond the routine dental visit as we discuss the important mouth-body connection.
